The other night I had a “Do it Yourself” moment with this season’s DVF Pom Pom hat. After a heated debate with my girlfriends over whether or not the hat was wearable and if so then was it worth dishing out over $200 for a hat which could argumentably be a craft project, I decided to tackle the issue at hand.
First off, yes, I would wear the hat (I think) and second, I was going to try to make it…Ahem, I AM going to try to make it…
A lot of my friends went to school for fashion and/or are just ‘artsy’ in general. Therefore, they feel quite comfortable tackling projects like crocheting or knitting a hat. When you make something yourself, you have more creative control over the fabrics, textures, colors and well….just about everything! Not to mention, it usually costs far less than the runway version and you get the unique pleasure of being able to say that you made it yourself.
The Pom Pom hats from the DVF Fall 2009 Nomad Collection come in two sizes, the runway version, or Gallinet Pom Pom hat, and then there is the Jasmina Pom Pom, a slightly smaller version.
